A Note from the Founder

Find something in life you love doing so much that you would do it for free —
but you do it so well you get paid for it.
– Byron Garrett

As CYBIS approaches 24 years, I am proud to say this “approach” has driven our company’s evolution. Look — I could never sing or dance, but I’ve long been passionate about inspiring people through the power of creative & staged productions. The folks we’ve been privileged to produce for has been most gratifying – from hundreds of thousands of middle & high school leaders, to the President & First Lady.

The past 20+ years has been an exciting trek. Cybis began mostly because of college buddies seeking an outlet for our hobbies …. and yes, we were doing a lot “for free!” However, before long, the outcome of our pure passion started turning heads across the nation and we were in high demand. We were designing graphics & stage sets, running cameras & live switchers, writing scripts & stage choreography, crafting soundtracks and animations, and ultimately packaging together something entertaining and motivating for our premier client—the audience.

Every day yields new learning experiences, and the thrill of these challenges keeps Team Cybis engaged and focused on doing our best. Since then, we’ve broken world records, been hosted in the White House, achieved industry innovations, and earned the spot as one of Orlando’s “coolest companies to work.” For me personally, it’s about the millions of individuals who have seen our productions and the positive influence I hope we have made upon them.

Rest assured, Cybis’ success is not the result of a sales team, nor marketing efforts (we do virtually nil) – it’s the result of putting on a darn good show every time. At Cybis, we love our work, and it’s shows!

I would love to hear from you about your passions, especially about the sacrifices and rewards you’ve experienced. Does your passion compete with your career or are they one and the same? Please email mejeff@63.134.242.208 Continue reading

The Mall At Millenia International Campaign

The Mall at Millenia calls Orlando home, but attracts visitors from all across the globe. We shot an exclusive promotional campaign for one of the top 10 malls in the world; showcasing its world-class luxury and proving that it’s a shopping destination for audiences both domestic and abroad. We produced five 30 second and 2 minute commercials targeting audiences in Brazil, the U.K., China, Latin America, and of course, the U.S.

The Mall at Millenia isn’t just known for their lineup of world-renowned luxury brands, but for their exceptional customer amenities as well. When we took this on, our Director/Creative Producer was thrilled!

I really connected with this project because fashion is important to me. The Mall at Millenia is like the Rodeo Drive of Orlando, and that’s why I shop there. When I found out we would get to create a spot that reflected the fashion and experience the Mall at Millenia provides, I knew we would produce something really cool.
-Sean O’Hara, Director/Creative Producer

We wanted to focus on the everyday aspects of the Mall, and not just the tourist draws. Luckily, when you see high end brands such as Versace and Cartier, you don’t need to speak Italian or French to get the message across. Our cinematic edits lets the audience sit back and absorb the action; and then plan their next visit to sunny Orlando!

CYBIS Inspires A Million Student Leaders

Jeff Douglass, Founder & Executive Producer of Cybis Communications, shares his passion for inspiring students and producing captivating events.

When Jeff Douglass, Cybis Founder & CEO, first joined FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) in high-school, he never imagined it would one day lead to his role inspiring over a million students coast to coast. That’s how many young leaders have sat in the audience of a Cybis produced live event in the past two decades!

Team Cybis is proud to have been working closely with nonprofits and Career & Technical Student Organizations (CTSO’s) since 2002. With several CTSO alumni on our team, we know what it takes to share their unique messages statewide and even nationally. We give it our all to help positively influence audiences through motivational presentations, creative storytelling, stimulating promotional videos, and jaw-dropping motion graphics. From designing logos and original scriptwriting to the production of general sessions and large-scale awards ceremonies, Cybis brings inspiring stories to life through relevant speeches, choreography, moving lights, the latest music, graphics, videos, scenic designs, projection mapping, and much more!

Our team members are just as passionate about their work as these members are about their organizations. We bring new show technologies and ideas that rival what students could see on the Teen Choice Awards or MTV Movie Awards, giving each student a chance to step into the spotlight in front of audiences over 10,000 strong. It is our mission to produce a powerful event honoring their achievements and inspiring them to continue to pursue leadership and career success.

As a former CTSO member I can still remember my heart racing as I walked into my first Cybis show nearly a decade ago. The atmosphere was not only empowering, but made me feel like I was part of something much bigger than just a student conference.
-Danny Spors, former BPA National Officer

Nothing makes Cybis happier than helping the next generation of leaders get the recognition they deserve, whether it’s on stage, on screen, or in print!

PURPLE FEATHER AWARDS 2014

Once a year Team Cybis comes together to raise a glass, celebrate our accomplishments and recognize our talented team members who make it all happen. Cybis has been growing by leaps and bounds, so much that for our Fourth Annual Awards, it was time to upgrade from Jeff’s elegant abode. This year it was held at the swanky Aloft Hotel in downtown Orlando. Guests were greeted with a festive room full of dazzling lights and memorable photos from the year flashing across the screen.

After appetizers and mingling, many of us grabbed our drinks and meandered over to our painting stations. The multi-talented Cat Solano set up 26 painting stations to teach us how to create our own purple feather. With a whisk of the brush and kind words from our friends, we all became fabulous artists.

In between the rounds of painting, we celebrated the highly anticipated awards. Some winners were definite shoe-ins, while others were pleasantly surprised. Everyone cheered as the best of the best strutted across the stage to pick up their award and snap a selfie with Jeff. Outstanding individuals are awarded with an illustrious purple feather in the categories of “Best Leader,” “Print Designer of the Year,” “Intern of the Year” and many more!

The night ended with a White Elephant Gift Exchange. (The Bailey’s Liquor was the most popular stolen gift …no surprise there!) The evening was definitely a huge success! A very big thank you to all of those who helped plan and execute the party!

Purple Feather Awards 2013

As another successful year at Cybis wrapped, our talented and creative team of full-timers and freelancers came together to celebrate and attend the Purple Feather Awards Ceremony.

Cybis Senior Team Retreat

Cybis held its first ever company retreat last week where the Senior Team gathered together for 3 days to outline the future of Cybis! Some childhood memories resurfaced when the team camped out at Camp Cedarkirk in Lithia, FL; but this was no place for childsplay!

The Senior Team got deep in discussing Cybis’ action plan for the next 2 years. Breaking down our mission statement, they established 7 core values for the company and developed goals to meet and execute these values. They also established individual goals for their role as a Senior Team member to focus on the bigger-picture of the company. So yeah, no picnic in the park.
Other focuses during the retreat were discussing the strengths of Team Cybis HQ members, wanting more collaboration/communication within our team, and there was a lot of talk about “Excellence.” Here at Cybis, we take pride in exceeding expectations in everything we do, and that includes excellence amongst our Team!

On behalf of all Team Cybis members, we just want to say thank you Senior Team for always putting in your best efforts for the sake of Cybis’ future!

Orlando Creative Event Firm Introduces State of the Art Technology at ‘One Orlando Leadership Summit’

ORLANDO, FLORIDA – December 4, 2013 – Cybis, an Orlando-based creative media and event production company, is proud to introduce a uniquely interactive technology at the 2013 One Orlando Leadership Summit.

Participants in the three-day conference will be able to use their personal mobile devices to engage with presenters during several scheduled events including panel discussions and interactive experiences at various locations across the region. Business leaders will also be able to view custom content, changing in real-time, using the new, interactive system. It’s one of several cutting-edge technologies Cybis is using to keep participants engaged throughout the summit.

Cybis is proud to partner with the Metro Orlando EDC to celebrate the region’s assets, opportunities and the challenges its leaders face in positioning Orlando as a top destination for business. Cybis is providing a creative, total show experience for the EDC’s One Orlando event with cutting-edge technology, a dynamic projection-mapped stage, rich motion graphics and live-show support. Cybis hopes to leave attendees enthralled and energized to support Orlando’s growth after this one-of-a-kind, invite-only event.

“As a national company based locally, we are honored to be part of the summit that not only showcases our region, but also brings together the brightest minds and influencers within our community,” says Cybis Founder & CEO, Jeff Douglass. “As an Orlando native myself, I’m especially proud to support an event that creates an environment for our leaders to envision a new phase for our region.”

The Orlando summit, intended for regional CEO and senior-level executives, is being held at the Hyatt Regency Orlando, December 4-6, 2013. Hosted by the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission, in partnership with the Central Florida Partnership and Visit Orlando, the summit is intended to allow leaders to see firsthand, the regions assets and opportunities within the context of economic challenges facing the
community.

The invitation only event includes visits and tours of major regional assets and detailed briefings designed to help attendees understand effective business practices for development. In an effort to engage and encourage a creative environment, Cybis created a fully immersive and sensory experience. This technology allows users to interact, respond and measure participant results in real-time. Anyone in the audience or group can use their own smartphone, tablet or mobile device to interact and stay engaged at every moment of the conference. “With this event, we seek to showcase the best of Orlando, by communicating and engaging this audience in a way that many of these participants have never seen before,” says Douglass.

Cybis Communications Chosen to Produce Visit Orlando’s Industry Luncheon

ORLANDO, FLORIDA – September 04, 2013 – Cybis, a creative media and event productions company, partners with Visit Orlando for their largest event of the year. Visit Orlando chose Cybis to provide design, technology and production leadership for their annual Industry Insights and Marketing Luncheon. This is the third time Cybis has been retained as the event’s full-service production coordinator.

Drawing inspiration from the interconnectivity between Central Florida industries, Cybis chose and developed ENGAGE to serve as the theme and identity for this year’s event. The distinctive but familiar identity, featuring tangram shapes that unfold and connect, represents the fusion of Central Florida industries as they link up and build upon each other’s strengths, ideas and momentum. In addition to providing the aesthetic foundation for event designs, collateral and marketing materials, the colorful shapes and typography took a starring role in the on-screen graphics, and especially on the dynamic, projection-mapped stage set.

Utilizing state of the art projection mapping, Cybis proudly presented a unique 3D stage design that came to life with vibrant, animated graphics and effects. Capitalizing on the interlocking and transforming identity, this year’s stage design was strategically built with various geometrical shapes coming together to form one cohesive unit. Each section of the set featured custom projected content, allowing multiple pieces of information to be presented at one time, across the one-of-a-kind forty foot wide set. The shapes unfolded and built up in intricate and entertaining ways, bringing an eye-popping kinetic energy to the stage. The onscreen motion-graphic content produced by Cybis, featured sleek and elegant transitions and animations that transformed the mood of the stage and room, as new ideas and insights were presented throughout the show.

Orlando is the No. 1 most visited destination in the United States and is experiencing one of its greatest expansion periods in history, with 57 million travelers welcomed in 2012. The Annual Industry Insights and Marketing Luncheon allows Visit Orlando members to come together to further strengthen the destination’s leadership position in the global travel marketplace. Cybis is a proud sponsor of Visit Orlando’s Annual Industry Insights and Marketing Luncheon.
